Scientist tell us that modern humans (That is people who looked and acted more like us than the earlier six species of humans.) first appeared about 200,000 years ago. God in the person of Jesus Christ chose to reveal himself to humanity only 2,000 years ago. That begs the question, Why did he wait so long?
According to the New King James Bible, John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” If this can be relied on to be true, literally tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people, who were born and lived in the 198,000 years before Christ were simply ignored by God. Perhaps the bible isn’t completely accurate except in a philosophical way,
That quotation leaves a lot of room for questions. “Whoever believes in him” Does that mean whoever believes the person Jesus lived or whoever believes and practices living according to the principles taught by Jesus? I choose to believe the latter.
Yet another question is, what’s God been up to for the last 2,000 years? Must humanity wait yet another 198,000 before the return of God as predicted in the bible? If we’re on our own for long periods of time. I think time has little meaning to God; it’s only important to us humans.
